You can find the released specification of BPMN 2.0 on OMG´s web site. The date of the documents is the 3rd of January 2011. I had exepcted to see the release in 2010, but so what.
SAPERION is supporting BPMN 2.0 because of one really important enhancement: the XML-based serialisation which allows the interoperability between different tools. Therefore we wrote a web service which allows to deploy a BPMN 2.0 model which is transformed on the fly into the technical respresentation of our Workflow Engine for execution. Since SAPERION Version 7 we are supporting the BPMN look & feel and some more elements as well, e.g. the AND, OR and XOR gateway, the terminator and some attached timer elements.
I wrote about our first BPMN 2.0 experiences together with our Partner Signavio in respect to the BPM Round-Trip Engineering. And we found that there is a need for additional attributes or something similar to the extension of WfMC´s XPDL: Requests to BPMN 2.0.
Nevertheless we are looking foreward to start with our first user into production soon: modeling with Signavio Process Editor and processing with SAPERION Workflow, without any further configuration within SAPERION´s own ProcessEditor.
You can read a bit more about the corresponding benefits on our homepage.
We do not only use the Signavio Process Editor for process modeling. The process participators are using the Editor in the view mode as well as. The screenshot shows the SAPERION Client with the Workflow Tasklist opened. On the right hand sight the viewer shows the correspondig process to the marked task in the list. Additionally the active task is marked with an red rectangular within the viewer. So the user is able to see the context of his outstandig work.
