Just read an interesting article in CMS REPORT “Apple iPad – taking CMS access truly mobile”.

They say that generis (creating software solutions for documentum, SharePoint and Alfresco) will profide a generic CMIS client called iCara for Apples mobile plattform. SAPERION is busy at CMIS standard, too. It’s said that the app should run on every CMIS repository.

Further on they cover the news, that one of their pharmaceutical customers is planning to use the iPad for FDA audits:

One novel planned use of the iPad by one of our pharmaceutical customer just came to our attention: providing a mobile way for FDA auditors to access the company’s documents without having to provide additional laptops / PCs, and enabling them to walk around the site while viewing the appropriate content (for example while inspecting labs or production facilities).  It goes without saying that getting executives who are constantly on the move to be able to read and approve content is also a key goal – doing this on a phone has never really been satisfactory.

We’re doing this kind of App ourselves. In January our next release will be available in AppStore. This one will be a universal app that supports both, iPad and iPhone.
