The new version of the iSAPERION app was recently released in the App Store. Version 2.0 incorporates experiences gained during countless discussions with our customers. For example, we have reaffirmed our dedication to standards without abandoning our vintage style. The “real” paper files have been very well received by current and potential customers. The appeal of this style may be one reason why executive managers, in particular, have been so enthused about invoice approvals on iPad or iPhone.
We’ve taken functionality a few steps forward as well:
- Universal App: approval workflow for iPad and iPhone
- View and insert comments on documents
- Support for BPMN 2.0
Personally, I am most excited about the ability to approve my invoices from iPad or iPhone. And by that I mean the actual invoices that I must approve as a department manager. Since the iPad has become my sole traveling companion (the MacBook rarely leaves the office), I find this to be extremely useful.
At CeBIT we’ll take it one step further:
At CeBIT we will demonstrate research in archives and a reference file for mobile use.
Despite the richer functionality in the new version, I firmly believe that a mobile application should never attempt to replace a traditional ECM application. This would inevitably result in deterioration of its elegance and allure. Apps are exciting because they do one particular thing really well. They are specialists, not generalists!
